There's some speculation among fans that Season 8 of USA's long-running comedy "Psych" will see Lassie become a proud papa. While no official story lines about Lassie becoming a dad have been reported, some fans argue that events from prior seasons have subtly been leading up to Lassie becoming a father for the first time. Here's some compelling evidence!
Hint 1: Season 8 features a new side to Lassie
One big hint comes from the recent festivities over at San Diego Comic Con. In a report from Crave Online, it was revealed that Season 8 of "Psych" would explore Lassie's hidden depths.
Actor Timothy Omundson explained, "You get to see sides of Lassiter that you didn't even know existed, let alone thought he had."
To many fans, that suggests Season 8 will explore Lassie's softer side, including his home life and his desire for a family. After all, what could be more surprising than seeing tightly wound, gun-crazy Lassie crying over the birth of his child?
Hint 2: Lassie got married last season
Since much of Season 7 revolved around Lassie's love life and his plans to marry Marlowe, it would make sense for Season 8 to focus on Lassie's home life. Lassie and Marlowe tied the knot in the Season 7 episode "Deez Nups." Actress Kristy Swanson is 43 in real life, but a woman can still get pregnant at that age.
Hint 3: We already know family is important to him
Way back in Season 5, fans were introduced to Lassie's little sister, Lauren "Lulu" Lassiter. That episode showed viewers that Lassie loves his little sister, and that family is important to him. Since Lassie likes family, he might start one of his own!
Hint 4: Marlowe's already been called "Mommy"
In one of the realities presented in "Right Turn or Left for Dead," Lassiter is seen talking to Marlowe on the phone. Lassie tells Lassie Jr. to come say "hi" to "Mommy" (by which he means Marlowe.) But in this reality, Lassie Jr. isn't a child, but a puppy!
Since this scene takes place in the "false" reality, isn't it possible that the "real" reality would have Marlowe being called "Mommy" because she's a real mother, and not because she has a fur baby?
Could all these signs point to the birth of a baby boy in Carlton's future? Fans will just have to wait until Season 8 debuts in 2014 to find out for sure.
