Not everyone was around for the 80's to see this episode originally air, but some of you may remember the Game Show Network showing a documentary of this winner a few years ago. Michael Larson, an unemployed ice cream truck driver, watched "Press Your Luck" so much at home that he noticed a pattern in the flashing of the game's lights. The producers of the show were able to realize his trick after noting his reactions to each win, which ended up amounting to $110,237. As much as CBS wanted to disqualify him for cheating, they could not prove it.
Having won 74 games of "Jeopardy," Ken Jennings was a game show titan. His loss to Nancy Zerg brought on shocked gasps from the audience. Jennings won $2.52 million from his wins, setting the record for the highest American game show winnings.
The million dollar question for the first winner of this show was, "which of these U.S. presidents appeared in the television series, "Laugh-in?" He calmly requested to use his dad as a lifeline. However, it turned out that John didn't need his dad's help, he just wanted to let him know that he was about to win a million dollars. With an ever so confident look, he delivered his answer. "Richard Nixon."
Regardless of culture, there is something really amusing about this game. Known to the Japanese as "Brain Wall," this component of a Japanese game show has nothing to do with epic wins, but it provides a tremendous amount of physical comedy as the show presents its human version of tetris. Each level gets only harder as the players have to figure out how to get through impossible shapes in the wall (the cutout of a baby is just one example.) If they fail, they get pushed off of the thin platform into the murky yellow water.here to watch the original moment from the popular animated series.
