Season 1 Episode 2 of "666 Park Avenue" was full of temptation and more foreshadowing of potential dangers ahead for the residents of The Drake. Fans were exposed to more paranormal activity and gained a stronger understanding of what might actually be going on inside the demonic building. As Jane Van Veen gets closer to unraveling one mystery, though, a few more begin.
The birdsJane explored John Barlow's room and heard movement within the wall of the bedroom. She peeled back some of the wallpaper and drywall, and black birds flew out and encircled the building. An exterminator she hired broke a hole in the basement wall and exposed the mystery door behind it. Nona warned about bothering the birds and saw a vision of the exterminator being killed after stealing a trinket from him. Later, he was attacked by the mysterious birds and ran into the street where he was struck by a car.
Murder mysteryJane had another dream where she walked through the hidden door in the basement. This time, she entered a room from the complex's past. She discovered the body of a murdered man. She later learned the unsolved murder had happened in the 1950s. Later, fans were introduced to an occupant of The Drake who had to kill men she had been attracted to in order to stay young. She had a deal with Gavin Doran, in which she wanted to find true love and had apparently been killing men for him for decades.
Henry is the targetIt was explained that Gavin is very interested in tempting Henry, as Jane's boyfriend is an honest person and would be a great "find." The owner of The Drake let Henry know about a property deal he had just made and the city worker realized the property was being investigated for high levels of toxins. He kept this information from the tempter and was later commended by Gavin for his integrity while fans realized the temptations directed toward Mr. Martin would not end anytime soon.
Other storylinesDuring the time Louise was recovering in the hospital from the injuries she sustained in the defective elevator, her husband Brian finally gave into his temptation with Alexis. The photographer pointed out to Jane that she was considering suing the Dorans, but later received a check for $300,000 from the enigmatic owners of The Drake. Tension between Jane and Tony became apparent and the new building manager believes it is due to her getting the job instead of the desk manager. The show closed as Jane opened up the newly exposed secret door in the basement.
