Abby & Brittany," premiered August 28 on TLC. There was plenty of revealing information about the twins (they share a best friend!) packed into back-to-back 30-minute episodes, but some details really stood out. Here are five fascinating tidbits about these two extraordinary women.Abby and Brittany Hensel are inseparable twins -- at least physically. The identical conjoined twins might share a body, but they have two big personalities! The pair's new reality show, "
Erin met Abby and Brittany during their freshman year of college, and she threw the twins' their 22nd birthday party at her house. The three met over lattes to plan the fete and decided that the party needs a bonfire and treats like ice cream with lots of toppings. The besties then head to the party store to get a piñata, streamers, and balloons for their celebration. Thankfully the twins agree on what they want. Erin explains how she has an equally close relationship with both Abby and Britt, which is awesome because they are so different.
2. They argue about clothesIn a funny shopping scene, we see that only one twin really likes to shop! Abby is the clothes horse (and the louder one!), and Brittany would rather save money. When they do shop, they have to compromise on what's cute. Two things they can agree on: Their mom's style is old, and their dress should be shorter.
3. Brittany's heart and caffeine don't mix
Brittany explained that she has to take it easy with caffeine. One winter, the twins had three caffeinated drinks and then started shaking. Brittany's heart started beating rapidly from all the caffeine. Abby's heart is fine, but she gets a serious kick of energy. The pair have two hearts, two stomachs, and four lungs, but only one ribcage. Abby is on the right side and controls the right side of the body. Brittany is on the left and controls her side.
4. The twins had seven roommates in college
Abby and Brittany attended Bethel University in Minneapolis, where they shared a home with seven other female students. The roommates introduced at the beginning of the episode are Katie, Allie, Cari Jo, and Kayla. The house looks just like a college dorm with pictures everywhere, shoes strewed about, and even a "wall of shame" that they call the "Shout House," which includes proof of Kayla's court date. Just like they say in the show's intro, "The most amazing thing about us is we're just like everyone else!"
5. They say the same thing at the same time
An adorable trait about these phenomenal women is how they often say the same thing at the same time! In their behind-the-scenes interviews and interactions with family and friends, they are in sync with their statements and thoughts. It's a sisterly bond at the highest level.
The story of the Hensel twins has evolved from past documentaries that showed the girls in elementary school and then again at age 16. To watch the twins' adult lives unfold, tune in to "Abby & Brittany" on Tuesday nights on TLC.
