Is Abby Elliott Departing Saturday Night Live?

Saturday Night Live may be losing another cast member.

Abby Elliott is nearing a deal to star in the Fox comedy pilot Ben Fox is My Manny, Entertainment Weekly reports.

From Couples Retreat writer Dana Fox, the project centers on an uptight single mom (Elliott) who moves in with her laid-back brother to raise a child (Maggie Jones).

Elliott, 24, would only have to leave SNL if the project were ordered to series by Fox. Although her contract is not up on the late-night variety show, a source tells EW that executive producer Lorne Michaels has agreed to let Elliott out of her contract to take the role if it is picked up.

Fellow cast member Paul Brittain exited SNL suddenly in late January to pursue other projects. He and the show parted away "amicably," according to EW.

Elliott, the daughter of SNL alum Chris Elliott, has been on the show for three years.

she may be leaving because Kristen Wiig is obviously highly favored and gets all the female parts. i'm sure they're sick of that. it's like sitting on the bench the entire game. you want to play, but the coach won't put in anybody but the star player. if you ask me, they spend waaaay too much time reading cue cards. they say it's because of last minute revisions to the script, but it's so distracting to see them looking just right of the camera instead of at the person they're talking to.

It won't last a season and will probably suck. However, she's probably on Lorne's cut list this year, so is no doubt happy to have a gig, so that it will look like she totally "left" and was not fired. Feel sorry for the actors on SNL, who work so hard but can easily end up on this annual hatchet list. That Brittain guy, who "left" midseason this year, must wish he were so lucky to have a gig.

  Amazingly, she's not. His wife is Paula Niedert. You can see them both in her face. Just a good mix of genes. I've seen it a lot of times.

Is she still with Fred Armisen, SNL's top cast member? For those who never heard of her, she is the second to be introduced at the start of the show each week. Quite a FOX!!

I love her playing Zoey Deschanel and Anna Faris!! And too bad about Paul Brittain even though he didn't add much. I just hope they keep Jay Pharoh (hope I spelled his name right and his impressions are SPOT ON) and Vanessa Bayer!! I wish they would stop putting Kirsten Wiig in so many skits she is funny but let the others have a chance.

So who's gonna be the new pretty girl on SNL? Is Nasim Pedrad still on there? I sure hope so. Otherwise, we'll have to suffer through the enormously unfunny Kristen Wiig as the "hot" girl on SNL.

I hope she stays; I think she's great & the show needs her. I had no idea she was Chris Elliot's daughter - he's hilarious so it's no wonder she's so funny. I would be very disappointed if she left. That Paul guy didn't contribute anything so he won't be missed but Abby will definitely be missed if she leaves.
