The amazing thing about the murder of Diane Newman on "The Young and the Restless" is that even the superior investigators with the clues and suspects have been unable to determine the culprit. Fans are choosing their favorites and creating how the murder indictment is going to come down. My personal idea of the culprit, based more on an analysis of the character of Adam Newman than facts, may be off base. Still, I believe Adam Newman slipped up somewhere and the end is going to happen very soon. This is my hypothetical guess on Adam's guilt and the result.
It is no secret that Adam and Diane plotted a pretend murder, with Victor the culprit and planted evidence indicating his part. That plan backfired and the result was Diane floating face down in the river. Neither Diane nor Adam played honest, trustworthy characters and their main goal seemed to be showing other people up, even if they had to cheat their way to it. Diane made so many enemies, it is a wonder anyone is investigating the situation. Adam continues to prove how stupid he is while telling others of his intelligent actions.
Pure Speculation
On September 7, one of the investigators will find Adam's diary. Inside is more ranting and raving. Typical "one day you will see" writing about what he feels he should have covers the pages in angry writing. Adam was angry because Diane married Victor, had a fling with Nick and steered clear of Adam, even though she moved in with him after Victor threw her out. She failed to appreciate him or his schemes. Diane might have been evil, but she was smart enough to recognize Adam's chief supporter was Adam himself.
The police will call Adam and ask him to stay where he is because they need to talk to him. Diane will appear and whisper that she remembers before she fades away. Continuing in his less-than-stellar fashion, Adam will load a pistol and hold it on the detectives who appear at his door. A patrol cop will drive by and see the two detectives facing an angry man waving a pistol, while they have no weapons pulled. He shoots to wound, but Adam moves at the wrong time and falls to the floor, mortally wounded. The scene will close with Diane voicing a wicked little laugh in the background.
Opinions and ideas are those of the author, based on the ongoing search for Diane Newman's murderer.
