Amanda is facing an identity crisis that is slowly eating away at her existence in "Flor Salvaje." Her decision to return to Nueva Esperanza has forced her to become Flor again, and she is not handling the transition well. How will she handle the stress?
The Creation of Flor Salvaje
Amanda created the persona of Flor Salvaje because she joined the prostitution ring in Nueva Esperanza. Coached by Zahra, she became a cold and calculating seductress who went after her prey. She tried to control her emotions, avoided falling in love and focused on protecting her sisters. Flor Salvaje was a convenient name for her new profession that protected her real identity.
Leaving It Behind
After her marriage to Sacramento, Amanda abandoned her previous profession and moved to a new town with her family. As she focused on earning a living at a small restaurant with Sacramento, no one called her Flor Salvaje in her new home. She took the transformation seriously by changing her appearance to a more decent level and refusing to acknowledge her past.
The End of the Ideal Family
Sacramento and Amanda may have seemed like an ideal family to outsiders, but there was early evidence of trouble. Their constant fighting and Sacramento's jealousy were slowly tearing them apart. The threat of Rafael was present in every instance while poverty was inescapable. Amanda seemed to be reverting back to her role as Flor Salvaje. She felt trapped in the marriage, scared of Rafael and tired of her new life. Amanda ended the family she was building by leaving them.
Coming Back
After coming back to Nueva Esperanza, Amanda immediately returned to the "Las 4P" bar and resumed her previous lifestyle. She reverted back to the heartless Flor by abandoning her sisters and Sacramento. Although she insists on protecting them from Rafael, her methods are convoluted. She has changed her appearance again to the more stylish and seductive Flor, but Amanda is still inside.
Decisions
Amanda and Flor Salvaje cannot coexist. Although she has attempted to keep portions of her previous personality intact, this has failed in the past. In addition, her attempts to be cold and ruthless on the outside are hurting her tremendously. She appears strong in front of others but cries while she is alone. Eventually, Amanda will have to choose a permanent identity because wavering between two personas is not going to last.
