Amazon is ramping up its exclusives business. The content licensing agreements announced today with Turner Broadcasting and Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution adds the two TNT series — Falling Skies and the WBTV-produced The Closer — to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video catalog, giving subscribers instant access to the titles. All seven seasons of Closer and the current as future seasons of Falling Skies will be available. The pact comes the same day Amazon sealed a deal to be the exclusive online subscription home of Under The Dome, and a week after it snagged exclusive streaming rights to all seasons of PBS’ Downton Abbey.
The alien-invasion drama Falling Skies was as basic cable’s No. 1 summer drama among key demos, is from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, who also is exec producing Under The Dome. The cop drama The Closer ended its seven-season run in August.
