‘American Idol’ Live! 2012 tour features old favorites and a new original

The "American Idols" Live! summer tour is in full swing -- and we've got the scoop on the tour set list, as well as the Top 10's must-haves for the road!

"American Idol" Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, along with runner-ups Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Elise Testone, DeAndre Brackensick, Colton Dixon, Heejun Han, and Erika Van Pelt kicked off tour on July 6 with 45 more stops to follow.

According to MJ's Big Blog, at the tour's kickoff show in Detroit, several Season 11 favorites performed, including "Piano Man" (Colton Dixon), "Master Blaster" (DeAndre Brackensick), and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" (Joshua Ledet). Elise Testone reprised her version of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love," while Skylar Laine went a whole lotta country with Miranda Lambert's angry girl anthem, "Gunpowder and Lead." You can see the full tour set list here.

But the biggest surprise came in the form of an original song -- and it wasn't by this season's "Idol" winner Phillip Phillips. While Phillips belted out his coronation song, "Home," as well as Season 11 favorites, Damien Rice's "Volcano" and Usher's "Nice and Slow," it was Colton Dixon who performed the tour's only original song, "Never Gone." You can watch a preview clip of Colton singing "Never Gone" here.

Meanwhile, the "Idol" Top 10 have been dishing on their must-have items for this summer's tour.

In a recent interview, Erika Van Pelt revealed her essentials for the road are her Chuck Taylors. "Probably the Batman ones," she said, before adding that she'll have to hide them from Colton Dixon!

In an interview with Blogcritics, DeAndre Brackensick said his must-have tour items include: "My comb, my ukulele, and my phone. I gotta keep in contact with my friends and my family. I miss them."

Hollie Cavanagh told Wetpaint she was planning to take mascara, food, and shoes with her on tour. "Although I'm worried because I feel like I've been packing some pounds," she added.

And Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips told People that he hoped to bring girlfriend Hannah Blackwell on the road. "She supported me throughout all of this, and I love her to death," he said. "I'm hoping maybe she will be able to come on tour with me. It would be cool to have her there."

Phillips -- who recently had kidney surgery -- also told the Chicago Sun-Times he's looking forward to one special delicacy on the road.

"I have never been to Chicago before, and I have to have pizza," he said. " I can eat pizza. I haven't gotten any tests back saying that I can't have pizza."
