The last thing most fans of "The Big Bang Theory" would associate with Sheldon Cooper's girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler, is the word "sexy." However, in "The Pulled Groin Extrapolation" we learn this is exactly how Amy thinks of herself. She even goes so far as to believe poor Leonard has fallen helplessly in love with her. Is she actually a goddess in disguise? While she isn't the traditional beauty, she has a mind geeks around the world would die to be around.
In fact, she has proven that smart women are irresistible. After all, Sheldon has never been swayed by a woman enough to call her his girlfriend. Amy has not only become a permanent fixture in his life, but can keep up with him mentally. Amy may not be your average girl. In fact, she is quite extraordinary. Penny proved she could clean up into a fairly attractive woman. She's not exactly Penny, but her piercing stare definitely makes you feel noticed. Would you rather have a hot girl on your arm or someone you can talk to? Conversation is always more important in a relationship than looks. Amy is definitely more of a long-term, practical girl.
What is it about Amy that just keeps you thinking wow, what a goddess? What is it that makes nerds so sexy? Maybe it's the fact they aren't what we expect. They are always themselves. There is no reason to pretend to look or act like someone they're not. At the end of the day, Amy is still Amy. She doesn't have layers of makeup to take off or clothes she can't breathe in. Instead, she is a bombshell simply by always being comfortable in her own skin.
While she may make some of the more ordinary people cringe, it's not her fault if you don't understand basic scientific English. It isn't her fault if she comes off a little strong. All it means is maybe you're not quite as confident. That just maybe it's time to release your own inner goddess instead of conforming. More and more, we're seeing just how amazing the geek goddess really is. Who knew you could learn all that from a 30 minute comedy? Here's a toast to "The Big Bang Theory" for bringing us more than just laughs.
