Amy
Poehler made us laugh for years on "Saturday Night Live" and this year
she's up for an Emmy for bringing the funny in "Parks and Recreation." The actress, who recently split from Will Arnett after 9 years of marriage, was also nominated for her role as Leslie Knope in 2010 and 2011.
She shares the highlights and explains why she's learned to keep a golf
ball in her bag…
What makes Emmys the best night out?
Well,
I am a big fan of television. I love television and I watch most of the
shows that are nominated. I am a fan. I have a lot of stories from Emmy
nights…too many of those (laughs).
You've been nominated several times in a row. Any highlight?
They've all blurred into one long evening.

What have you learned over the years?
I bring a big purse on Emmy night -- that is what I have learned. And I bring a tennis ball and put it in the car.
Why?
At
the end of the night, you roll your feet on it. It is the best thing
after wearing high heels. Or I bring a golf ball. It is a very good
trick. I hate high heels and never wear them except on nights like that,
so that is my secret.
Any other advice for a good time?
You
have to make sure you can sit down in your dress. You have to practice
sitting down. And you have to make sure you can go to the bathroom. You
take that for granted but you have to think about it.
Who is your favorite sidekick for the ceremony?
My perfect Emmys date is someone who shows up on time!
