The CW's popular TV show, "Smallville," about a young Superman, is a light drama about fantastic superheroes. The dialog is not too heavy for the most part but does occasionally have memorable quotes with meaningful messages.
Tom Welling, who plays Clark Kent, Superman's real identity, has appeared on the show since its inception. His dialog is generally neutral, as he's a mild-mannered character, but does use his fair share of philosophical, funny, and sarcastic dialog, making him as dynamic as his human/Superman personas.
I gathered a list of what I found to be Clark's best quotes over the course of the series.
Season 1 Episode 4 "X-Ray"
Clark: "You go through life with a gift you have to keep a secret. When you see everyone around you being normal, you get jealous. You just want to be somebody else."
Season 1 Episode 11 "Hug"
Clark: "I don't see myself being a farmer when I grow up."
Lana: "What do you want to do?"
Clark: "I'm not sure. Just as long as it doesn't involve putting on a suit and doing a lot of flying."
Season 1 Episode 18 "Drone"
Clark: "Could I use that? I mean, 'the man of tomorrow' for my slogan?"
Clark: "I stand for truth, justice, and... other stuff."
Season 2 Episode 2 "Heat"
Clark: "Dad, you were right. Once I understood what triggered the heat, I was able to control it without thinking about... sex."
Jonathan: "You sure about that, son?"
Clark: "Trust me. Next time I have a date, I'll be able to take her out without setting her on fire."
Jonathan: "Well, that's a relief."
Season 2 Episode 3 "Duplicity"
Pete: "What about the x-ray deal? Have you ever used it to look through a girls..."Clark: "It only works when I focus and I do not use it to invade people's privacy."
Pete: "So you're telling me never once have you looked in the girls' locker room?"
Clark: "Well... maybe once."
Pete: "That's my boy."
Season 2 Episode 7 "Lineage"
Clark: "Yeah, but I crushed it this morning hitting the snooze alarm. Guess I'm not much of a morning person."Lana: "I have done pretty well without a father this long. I don't know why I thought I needed one now."
Clark: "I do. Lana, we're different. We don't get to see our biological parents every day, and see a little piece of who we are, who we may become. If I had a chance to get to know my birth parents, I wouldn't give up just because the first meeting didn't go the way I hoped."
Season 2 Episode 11 "Visage"
Clark: "I just can't help thinking that... Whitney's skin wasn't bulletproof. His bones weren't unbreakable, but he still put himself in harm's way so the world could be safer. I wonder if I didn't have my abilities if I'd have that same kind of courage."
Season 2 Episode 15 "Prodigal"
Clark [to Lex]: "As long as I live, I don't think I'm ever going to understand your family."
Season 2 Episode 23 "Exodus"
Clark: "Please! Everything and everyone I love is here! In Smallville!"
Jor-El: "You must let go of your past. I will guide you to your future."
Clark: "No, I don't want your guidance! I want to create my own future!"
Season 3 Episode 12 "Hereafter"
Clark: "Having someone tell you you can change destiny is a lot to handle."
Season 4 Episode 2 "Gone"
Clark: "I just don't understand how you could feel like you know someone so completely, like you know everything about them, and then just all of a sudden..."
Lois: "You don't even know what continent they're on."
Clark: "[frustrated] Do you always have to finish people's thoughts?"
Lois: "[equally frustrated] Well, am I right?"
Season 4 Episode 7 "Jinx"
Clark: "Dad, I know you don't agree with me. But sometimes taking responsibility means having faith in yourself to make the hard choices.
Jonathan: "And it also means being willing to accept the consequences."
Season 5 Episode 13 "Vengeance"
Clark: "I'm kind of hoping I can find a way to not have to hide who I really am."
Season 6 Episode 5 "Reunion"
Clark: "You know, sometimes in order to protect the people we love, we keep secrets."
Season 6 Episode 6 "Fallout"
Clark: "I'm ready to stop running from who I really am... from my destiny."
Season 6 Episode 7 "Rage"
Clark: "Oliver, you do a lot of good in this world. You don't need to be indestructible to be a hero."
Season 9 Episode 5 "Roulette"
Oliver: "You've done a hell of a job keeping the world safe on your own, Clark. I'm here to help you now."
Clark: "Good. Something tells me...soon the world will need all the help we can get."
