‘The Big Bang Theory’ Cast Shines at the SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards brings together the most talented actors and actresses each year. As usual there were plenty of fashion triumphs and mistakes to go around. This year the cast of "The Big Bang Theory" was among the Hollywood elite and, even though they did not pick up the awards they were nominated for, they put on a great show.

    Award Nominations

This year "The Big Bang Theory" was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter, in a red carpet interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said that the nomination made the SAG awards very special for him. "I've always been most proud of the work we do as a group," he beamed. "And I'm a fan of all the cast members." The award ultimately went to "The Modern Family."

    Jim Parsons' Moment

Jim Parsons, who plays the genius Sheldon Cooper, looked dashing in his tuxedo and delivered a hilarious monologue as part of the opening of the awards show. In his usual quirky, comedic style Parson's quipped, "I played a hyena in a bizarre children's production of Hansel and Gretel. I did Guys and Dolls in a freezing cold warehouse where my only pay was beer. Tonight I'm at the SAG Awards…and it's warm here. I'm Jim Parsons and I'm an actor." Parsons' monologue received laughs and a warm round of applause.

    Mayim Bialik's Bling

Mayim Bialik looked gorgeous in a full length, long-sleeved dress by Houston designer, David Peck. The ultimate star of her outfit was a unique and dazzling cuff by jewelry designer, Nini Hale. Before the show, Bialik updated her Facebook status, "Dress is I think 'hot and holy'...lauren merkin clutch is vegan and lovely (ditto for the shoes) and the jewelry by Nini Jewels features an amphibian." The citrine and sapphire frog bracelet added the perfect touch to her outfit.

    Kaley Cuoco's Keveza

Looking like a truly glamorous star, Kaley Cuoco (who plays Penny), wore a light blue Romona Keveza ball gown. The fitted bodice balanced the feathery skirt and was truly romantic. Her hair was swept up with wisps and tendrils of hair to soften her face. Bellasugar tweeted on Cuoco's page, "Kaley Cuoco looks like the swan princess."

Even though "The Big Bang Theory" didn't bring home any awards, they were in truly great company. Maybe next year our favorite physicists will bring home an award, after all, its clear from their excellent ratings and fan base, that they're not going anywhere!
