'The Big Bang Theory' Will Feature a Lot of Howard as Season Winds Down

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" still have to wait for new episodes to return, but the end of the season is already starting to take shape. While there's a lot of the speculation on the relationship between Leonard and Penny, as well as the one between Sheldon and Amy, a couple of recent news bits suggest that some big storylines are coming up for Howard. The sex-crazed nerd is not only preparing for his launch into outer space, but it looks like he will also meet his future father-in-law. Here are some things for fans to look forward to regarding Howard as the season winds down.

First, astronaut Mike Massimino will return to the show for an upcoming episode. That means that everyone will get to see the latest developments of Howard's quest to go into space. Obviously, there is some rich comedy to be had with this storyline. Not only will Howard's own anxiety lead to some laughs, but the potential interference of his mother and Bernadette could be hilarious. Will Howard's mother finally be seen as she tries to stop him from leaving this planet? That doesn't seem likely, but it would sure be fun to see her yelling at Massimino from a distance. Will Howard actually make it into space? That is just one of two big questions for the character as the season winds down.

The other question involves his wedding to Bernadette. Will the two walk down the aisle this season? Fans have gotten a major hint with the casting of Casey Sander as Bernadette's father. Sander will appear in the final two episodes and will no doubt cause some trouble for Howard. She has already suggested that her father is incredibly tough so that should be a lot of fun. Given how hilarious the other parents have been on the show, this storyline is a classic in the making. Since Sander is slated for two episodes, the likelihood of the wedding being a factor before the season ends is very high. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the marriage will go off without a hitch.

The producers should definitely follow through with Howard's marriage. Bernadette is a wonderful addition to the show that fans would love to see remain for the long haul. On top of that, Howard's marriage could open up storylines for the other three guys. It would be neat to see how their friend's wedding impacts their own life goals. As for the venture into space it is safe to assume that Howard will do that, as well. The guys already left for the Arctic Circle in one season finale so there is precedent for something like this happening. However things turn out, the season finale should be pretty heavy on Howard.
