Sheldon introduced a new assistant on the latest episode of "The Big Bang Theory," and she immediately causes some tension among the other members of the group. The biggest impact comes from Leonard, who is on the receiving end of some major flirtation. That forces Penny to start to examine their relationship, and it looks like she might hold some real feelings for Leonard, after all. Could the new assistant be the wild card that determines the fate between Leonard and Penny? This episode certainly served as the staging ground. Here is a recap of the latest episode of "The Big Bang Theory."
Sheldon's new assistantAfter discovering that some of his childhood work could be valuable in the science community, Sheldon decides to go through all of his old journals and experiments. When he realizes that this could take a lot of time, he hires an assistant to do the work for him. The woman he hires, Alex, is stunning and immediately draws the attention of Raj. She also triggers the jealous side in Amy, who decides to mark her territory in Sheldon's office by rubbing her arm on all of his things.
As it turns out, Penny is the one who should feel threatened. Alex starts flirting with Leonard, and the two seem to have a lot of chemistry. Penny tries to tell Amy that it doesn't bother her, but it doesn't take long for her to admit that it does.
Penny eventually tries to confront Leonard about the flirtation, but Sheldon arrives home with Alex before she has the chance. Sheldon announces that Alex found a childhood experiment that could be just what he needs, and he's excited to share it with everyone. This forces Penny to meet Alex, and she hints that she's dating Leonard by mentioning that the two "work together in a way." After feeling threatened once again, she takes Leonard off to the bedroom.
Howard's space crazeHoward is nearing the end of his space adventure, and it's quite clear that he misses home. During a call to Bernadette, Howard conveys how much he misses gravity. For once, there's no sexual undertone. He asks Bernadette to drop something and seems excited about it.
Later, Howard's cabin fever worsens when he learns that his return home is being delayed. He starts making strange requests to Bernadette, who recommends that he talk to someone about his anxiety, but Howard insists that he's merely homesick. In any case, his loopy behavior continues.
