EXCLUSIVE: The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco will return as host of People’s Choice Awards 2013, which will air on CBS live from the Nokia Theatre on January 9, 2013. This will mark Cuoco’s second stint emceeing the People’s Choice Awards after making her debut this year. CBS has a history of tapping some of its biggest primetime stars to host awards shows that air on the network, with Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) hosting the Tonys, LL Cool J (NCIS:LA) emceeing the Grammy nomination specials as well as this year’s Grammy Awards, and Cuoco doing the People’s Choice Awards. ”It’s an honor to return as host of the 2013 People’s Choice Awards and kick off awards season with one of the most fun events of the year,” said Cuoco. Also returning as executive producer is another familiar CBS face, Survivor‘s Mark Burnett. “Kaley is such an engaging performer who brings an undeniable energy and passion to our stage,” Burnett said. “There is no doubt she will be a key part of what makes this year’s show a can’t miss event.”
Voting for the People’s Choice Awards begins October 23, with fans able to narrow down a selection of nominees in each of over 40 categories. Before landing the role of Penny on Big Bang, the reigning People’s Choice Award winner for Favorite TV Comedy, Cuoco starred in ABC’s 8 Simple Rules, winner of the 2003 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. Cuoco, repped by SDB Partners and Brillstein Entertainment, recently signed on to star in and executive produce indie comedy Scribble. Her hosting resume also includes the Teen Choice Awards.
