Genoa City power couple Billy (Billy Miller) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) made waves in the city by uniting two of the most powerful families in the region together, the Abbotts and the Newmans, on the hit CBS daytime drama "Young and the Restless." This wasn't the first time such a union occurred, but it was the most recent and was largely not supported by most members of both families.
Perhaps the stress of their families' disapproval, among other stresses in their lives, contributed to their baby-making woes. Victoria lost custody of her son, Reed, and he was removed from the state to live with his daddy. This drama, however, was only part of their woes. After losing Reed, Victoria suffer a miscarriage and turned into an emotional wreck. Her loving husband did what he thought he had to do to bring her happiness. He found her a baby.
In his efforts to rush through the adoption process, he actually hooked up with a baby broker named Primrose and soon brought home a lovely baby girl, who they named Lucy Abbott. It turns out, though, that this seemingly unwanted baby could trace her roots back to Genoa City and that she wasn't so "unwanted" after all. In fact, the baby's biological father, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) was a casual friend of theirs. Both the baby's uncle, Kevin (Greg Rikaart), and the baby's grandmother, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) were battling for custody before the baby's mom, Daisy, left town right before her birth. As a wanted woman, Daisy was on the run and a baby would slow her down. So she abandoned the baby in a church, where the baby ultimately made her way to the baby broker Primrose.
The baby's true identity came out, though. While Uncle Kevin has ultimately come around and supports the baby's adoption by Billy and Victoria (which has since been legalized by the courts), Grandma Phyllis wasn't letting go so easily. Baby Lucy is a blood relative, and she is wanted by her family. Phyllis told the courts recently that she never should have been let go because her family (ie Phyllis) wanted to raise her. Coincidentally, the baby's father, Daniel, also supports the adoption.
This drama has pitted family against family and friends against friends, and it isn't over yet. Phyllis now has lured the evil Daisy back to Genoa City with the hopes of getting custody through Lucy's mom. Her plot was successful, and now Daisy has been granted cus tody, and Phyllis is raising Lucy. Victoria now blames Billy for their continued baby woes, and she is now once more an emotional wreck.
Phyllis may have gotten what she wants, but she's not unscathed from the drama. She is creating enemies with the Newman clan and the Abbott clan alike, not to mention with her own son, Daniel, and her good friends Michael (Christian Jules LeBlanc) and Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman). Phyllis sure won't be winning any popularity contests in Genoa City any time soon!
