Canadian 'Recipe to Riches' Format Sold to Australia's Network Ten

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA – Australia’s Network Ten has acquired the Canadian food competition series Recipe to Riches format from FremantleMedia.

Network Ten plans a local version of the reality series about home cooks slicing and dicing for a chance to have their own recipe featured nationwide on grocery store shelves.

Recipe to Riches Australia from producer FremantleMedia Australia will debut in 2013.

Temple Street Productions produces the original Recipe to Riches series for Food Network Canada, with the winning recipe being sold nationally by Loblaw grocery stores.

STORY: FremantleMedia Acquires Format Rights to Canadian TV Food Competition Series

Recipe to Riches Australia has pacted with the Woolworths grocery chain down under for a retail platform.

David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg executive produce Recipe to Riches in Canada, which is now in its second season.

Rob Clark, director of global entertainment development at FremantleMedia, which earlier sold the Canadian format to Slovakia and the Czech Republic, said additional local versions of the Canadian show are set to show up elsewhere overseas as deals in the works are concluded.

Working with Temple Street on Recipe to Riches are marketing communications agency Capital C and multinational advertising holding company MDC Partners.

FremantleMedia and FremantleMedia Enterprises hold the format and licensing rights.
