MOSCOW – CBS has made its first major venture into the Russian television market, announcing on Friday a major multi-year, multi-platform deal with leading independent production and broadcasting shingle Amedia.
The agreement with CBS Studios International gives Amedia the rights to broadcast existing hit shows such as Elementary and Beauty and the Beast as well as the Hollywood studio's new fall and mid-season series.

Amedia will also broadcast the latest premium content from CBS's Showtime strand including new drama Ray Donovan and the new seasons of The Borgias and House of Lies.
Amedia will air content over its own digital platforms, launched two years ago, including pay TV channels Amedia Premium HD and Amedia 1 and its subscription VOD service.
CBS also announced a new long term licensing deal with Finland's MTV3, which will broadcast recent pick-ups including Reckless, The Millers and Reign on its channels, as well as top series from Showtime. Finnish viewers have already watched several seasons of hit franchise CSI: Crime Scene Investigation under an existing deal.
