It looks like Ted and Robin are heading for a serious discussion on "How I Met Your Mother." However, that heart-to-heart will have to wait because the arrival of Marshall and Lily's baby looks to be right around the corner. Episode 22 of Season 7, "Good Crazy," was one of the better episodes this season. Not only did it set up the pending birth that fans have been waiting for, but it finally looks like something big is happening for Ted. Here is a recap of the April 30 episode of "How I Met Your Mother."
Ted is finally dealing with feelings.
Still not over Robin's rejection of him, Ted purposely tries to avoid her by arriving at a baby shower long after it's over. Of course, Robin is trying to avoid him, as well, and ended up arriving way too early for the party. In a quest to get Ted out of his funk, Barney encourages Ted to try online dating. He sets him up with three different girls, but things don't work out well for Ted. The first girl is a Canadian woman named Robin. From there, Ted can't help but see Robin in everyone he sees. Even a one-night stand with his third date doesn't erase Robin from his memory. He finally decides to confront Robin to talk things out, and he bumps into Robin as he is leaving the bar. She agrees that they need to talk, but it will have to wait because bigger things are about to happen with Marshall and Lily.
The baby is almost here.
Marshall seems to be in full prep mode for the baby. He is even practicing by waking up every three hours in the middle of the night and coddling a watermelon. After he drives Lily crazy enough, she enlists Barney to help him unwind. Barney takes Marshall to Atlantic City, encouraging him to turn off his phone and get drunk. The strategy works, and Marshall ends up having a great time. Unfortunately, Lily goes into labor shortly after he shuts his phone off. Barney listens to his voicemails and is left with a serious look on his face. Will Marshall really be drunk when his baby is born? It sure looks that way, but we will have to find out in the next episode.
Barney's jealousy
Ever since things have gotten serious between Barney and Quinn, he has dropped several hints about how stressful it is to date a stripper. He reaches a breaking point when some of Quinn's customers recognize her on the street. Barney tries to change her mind by offering her a big corporate job, but she doesn't take the bait. Quinn is perfectly happy being a stripper. It is clear that this angle will play out in the season finale. Could this prove to be too much for their relationship, or will Barney and Quinn find a middle ground?
Final impressions
This episode was pretty light on Robin, but it sets up a few big situations for her in the season finale. First, she and Ted will certainly have that talk. It should allow them to remain friends, and also allow Ted to finally pursue his quest for the woman of his dreams. Second, she will somehow play a part in Barney's life. Even if she doesn't end up being his future bride, the producers aren't going to pretend that these two don't need closure. With the Robin drama and the birth of the baby, the season finale should be a memorable one.
