CBS's ‘Person of Interest’ Recap: Who Can Be Trusted?

In the episode "Matsya Nyaya," "Person of Interest" flips trust on its head, and now it's much more difficult for the characters to know who can be trusted.

Is Carter trusting the right people?

Carter (Taraji P. Henson) realized that she is confused. She understands that Fusco (Kevin Chapman) must be a dirty cop even though he saved her life and continues to look out for her. She also realizes that she feels a sense of trust toward Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson), but that she is trusting the people she knows the least. Perhaps she is over-thinking it.

Reese trusted all the wrong people

Reese is still great at what he does, but he has become more trusting than he used to be. After being able to sense who is good and who is bad for so long, he is caught off guard. The people he thought were the good guys, who he was there to protect, were actually the bad guys. The worst part is that he was wrong twice.

He didn't turn out to be the usual guardian angel in this episode. In fact, the bad guys got away from him, and everything happened pretty much as it would have if he had not been there. The only difference was that he almost got himself killed.

    And nobody trusted Fusco

Fusco turns out to be the guardian angel in this episode. The funny part is that he seems to take pleasure in dirty cop dealings knowing that he gets to keep his share of the money earned in the process (after asking Reese's permission). He also gets to save Reese and be the good guy. Fusco essentially kills two birds with one stone without a second thought. He is much smarter and more devious than we took him to be.

Can Reese's old partner be trusted?

Reese's old partner, Cara Stanton (Annie Parisse), had no problem attempting to take out Reese back when they were CIA. She was simply following orders, but there was more to it. They were both supposed to be taken out, but she didn't see it coming.

Now she is back and still having no problem killing people. It is hinted that she may know all about the machine. Is she going to attempt gaining Reese's trust to get the machine for herself? Is she working for herself or someone else? It is likely that, as with everything on "Person of Interest," she is not what she seems.
