Cheers & Jeers: No There There for Lenny Clarke

Jeers to Are You There, Chelsea? for wasting Lenny Clarke.

The Boston-born standup proved what a talented actor he can be — in both comedy and drama — as Denis Leary's hotheaded Uncle Teddy on Rescue Me. So it's a shame to see him spouting off standard sitcom punchlines as Laura Prepon's buffoonish dad on NBC's Chelsea Handler-inspired misfire.

Of course, Clarke is the least of the show's problems, given Prepon's wooden line readings, Handler's distracting appearances as her own judgy sister and the crass scripts. Are you there, Lenny? It's me, Bruce. Somebody needs to rescue you from Chelsea!

This is yet another horrible NBC sitcom. Horrible writing and Bad acting, the only person who should be on network prime-time is Laura. The only good one they have is parks and rec. So far 30 rock has been crap this season, Office should have gotten a new direction. And community should have just done the same type of stuff they did in their first 6 episodes cuz after that it was terrible. The good sitcoms are getting almost 4 times the ratings of these shows. How does the person who is incharge of picking new shows still have a job.

Really like Chelsea Handler's style of humor and Laura Prepon is an attractive young actor but this show is truly awful. The first hint that NBC was out of its league was when they changed the title of Handler's book by removing the word "Vodka" from the program's title because they feared it would offend. If you are afraid of risks go back to reruns of House on the Prairie. Maybe if this show originated on a "cable channel" there would be better writing and direction for a program that is directed toward adults. Pay attention NBC: Chelsea Handler's humor is intended for adults and is probably not intended for a commercial TV Network afraid that sponsors might pull their spots because someone could be offended..
