‘Corazón Valiente’: Luis Kidnaps Juan Marcos

Luis has kidnapped Juan Marcos on "Corazón Valiente" as part of his plan for revenge. Although Fernanda and Gloria thought they had killed Luis, he has returned to destroy the people who tried to end his life. His attack on Juan Marcos is also motivated by his relationship with Ángela.

Luis and Juan Marcos

Luis is a former drug addict and Fernanda's violent hired hand. Considering his experience in helping Fernanda orchestrate multiple murders and assassination attempts, his ability to easily kidnap Juan Marcos is not surprising. His hatred for Juan Marcos makes accomplishing this task fun for him.

Making the Rescue More Difficult

Although his bodyguards are not able to prevent the kidnapping, Juan Marcos has a tracking device in his suit that should help the rescue, and Luis is initially unaware of the microchip. After searching his jacket, Luis discovers the tracking device hidden inside a pen. He immediately destroys it and makes it more difficult for Ángela to track Juan Marcos.

Role Reversal

Most telenovelas tend to feature the woman being kidnapped and the man desperately trying to rescue her. "Corazón Valiente" has altered this common stereotype by having Ángela search for Juan Marcos to save him. It is a refreshing change from the typical portrayals of women in telenovelas. In addition, Juan Marcos is not shown as a weak or helpless character, but as someone who is trapped in a situation out of his control.

Why Luis Hates Juan Marcos

Luis did not have to search for an excuse to kidnap Juan Marcos. "Corazón Valiente" has firmly established his hatred for Juan Marcos from the beginning. Although jealousy over his wealth and privileged lifestyle play a part in the hatred, his main issue is the rivalry for Ángela's love. Luis has tried to reconcile with Ángela several times and has resorted to using their daughter as a weapon. Nevertheless, Ángela has left him at the altar, clearly stated she does not love him and has found her way back to Juan Marcos.

The Role of Ángela

Ángela's concerns for the safety of Juan Marcos are proven correct after the kidnapping. As his bodyguard, she feels a mixture of anger and guilt for allowing him to be placed in this type of situation. However, she does not let her emotions control her actions. Ángela immediately tries to track Juan Marcos, enlists the help of others and starts pursuing his kidnapper.
