Season 7 of "Criminal Minds" finished a bit tamely compared to past season finales of the show. JJ (AJ Cook) and Will (Josh Stewart) got engaged then quickly married in a sweet little ceremony. The biggest change was when Prentiss (Paget Brewster) left the team for a return to Interpol, but she has left the show before.
Season 8 promises to bring much more excitement by gearing up to offer something never seen before on "Criminal Minds." TVGuide.com learned two juicy bits of information about the new season. The first is that they are planning on having a season-long unsub, which is a first for the show. The unsub will be introduced a few episodes in, and his or her calling card is the copying of each case the BAU solves, basically undoing their work in a sense.
The second tidbit of information is that Jeanne Tripplehorn will be joining the cast as Alex Blake. Alex has been in the FBI since she was 24 and also doubles as a linguistics professor, when she has the time.
The show will have another first with a love interest for Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). Reid shared a kiss with a woman in Season 1, but he's been alone for the most part. TV fanatic shared that he'll have enough of a real romance this season to have its own story arc. It's about time!
