The CW may have its answer to the "Hunger Games."
In May, the network passed on the drama "The Selection," in which a young girl in a futuristic, war-torn nation is chosen by lottery to compete for fame and fortune against a backdrop of hunger and carnage. The network said it would redevelop the show.
In the meantime, it has announced the new hourlong reality show, "The Hunt," which will pair up 12 teams of two as they try to capture each other and compete for a cash prize in the wilderness, with no food, water, or shelter.
One bummer for hardcore "Hunger Games" fans: They aren't allowed to kill each other.
The network also ordered the new reality series "Perfect Score," a dating competition in which contestants will seek a perfect match. In each half-hour episode, two friends will try to choose Mr. or Ms. Right from 12 prospective singles. The twist? Cash values will be assigned to each possible pick based on how well they are matched to the contestants in compatibility tests.
No premiere dates have been set.
"The Hunt" is executive produced by David Garfinkle ("Ready for Love"), Jay Renfroe ("Ready for Love") and Greg Goldman ("Ready for Love"). It is produced by Renegade 83 and Blackbird Television in association with Warner Horizon Television.
"Perfect Score" is created and executive produced by Scott St. John ("America's Got Talent," "Deal or No Deal,") and is produced by FremantleMedia North America ("American Idol," "The X Factor," "America's Got Talent").
