As fans discuss the possible line-up on "Dancing with the Stars" this season, all are left to wonder what other changes might be coming up on the show. The last season proved to be at hot one as it powered along with the highest ratings ever. It is quite possible that producers of the show might decide to take a let's-not-rock-the-boat attitude. While that might be a fine idea, it is certainly fun to take a good look at the show and think about what might make it even better.
"Dancing with the Stars" has always been known for taking average stars and turning them into the best ballroom dancers they could possibly become in just one season. This formula has proved to be fun for the show, but there is always room for something new. Here are a few possibilities that might bring some new life to the show.
Slide out the Swing
There have been several times that dance routines on "Dancing with the Stars" have introduced some swing dance styles into the ballroom routines. When the couples are able to pull off the dance without a hitch, the added style seems to be warmly welcomed by the judging panel. If the dance isn't up to speed, judges seem more harsh about any inserted styles. Swing seems to be one style of dance that is most often used in one way or another by the dancers. It is such a lively and fun dance style that it seems there ought to be one dance by each couple that is a true swing dance. It would be a step away from ballroom but it might add some flare and excitement, with a much needed touch of the unexpected.
Dig the Disco
Few dancing pairs have ever come close to the amazing chemistry that there was between Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy when they appeared together on the "Dancing with the Stars" stage. The moment they started dancing, it was easy to imagine how hot they would be if they were dancing together to some disco tunes. When John Travolta paid a special visit to Kirstie and Maksim, it seemed like a sign from heaven above. With that in mind, it would be solid gold to get a glimpse of them dancing to "More than a Woman" by the BeeGees. Fans can only hope that the show might bring on the blacklights and bring back Kirstie and Maks.
Don't pass on the Polka!
It would be great fun to see each couple skipping across the floor together to some grand tune cranked out with the love of beer in mind -- a good old fashioned polka! It could be a one time thing each season, and each couple that makes it to the final could be called upon to polka.
"Dancing with the Stars" has managed to acquire a fan base with a very wide age range. It is amazing, considering how small the group is that actually embraced ballroom dancing while growing up. The idea of adding dance styles that might appeal to wider age ranges seems to be solid enough to consider. It will be interesting to see what new surprises are in store for fans this year.
