He's been a sizzling hot front runner all season, but William Levy's freestyle dance on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" lacked one thing: A cowboy hat!
Yeehaw!
Yes, it's down to the final hours of "Dancing with the Stars" -- and Monday night's freestyle dances showed that all of these contestants are in it to win it. But it was Green Bay Packer Donald Driver Driver who ran in for the winning freestyle.
Driver and pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd's country-style freestyle to Cowboy Troy's "I Play Chicken with the Train" drummed up memories of Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke's "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy" freestyle from Season 2. (In 2010, that honky tonk romp was even voted the best "DWTS" of all time.)
The highly-hoopla'd dance came after the couple's Argentine Tango to "They" by Jem, which Len Goodman called " a tad careful." They scored 29 points for the dance, with Driver vowing: "Len, I don't know what I need to do baby, but I promise on this next one, you will give me a 10."
And a 10 he got-- from all of the judges. Of Driver's cowboy chicken dance, judge Carrie Ann Inaba said: "This is by far my favorite finals and that is by far my favorite dance tonight!"
Check out Driver and Murgatroyd's freestyle here.
Driver told Access Hollywood, "I don't think anyone expected me to do country. Everyone probably expected hip-hop, but we wanted to bring a new element, change the show completely up…. at the end of the day, we had the crowd off their feet the whole time."
Could this prove to be a mirrorball-winning combo for Driver?
Well, he did have some competition!
William Levy and Cheryl Burke Cha-Cha-Cha'd to "Raise Your Glass" by Pink, causing Bruno Tonioli to spew comments like "Your hip action is just sex on legs," and call the dance an "intoxicating Cuban cocktail of natural flowing moves." That dance kicked off the night with a score of perfect 10s.
And Levy's freestyle to Shakira's "Objection" may have been hot, hot, hot, but the Latin lover had to face the objections of Len afterwards: "It was too predictable!" the cranky judge screamed. "All you do is shake your butt and get the women screaming. I wanted more! I wanted to see something different. I'm fed up with it!" The result: 29 points. (Guess who gave him the 9?)
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas had a perfect night all around: They scored 30 points for their Paso Doble to "Espana Cani" by Erich Kunzel, prompting Carrie Ann to call the dance "technical brilliance."
Jenkins and Ballas's freestyle to the Andrews Sisters' "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" also nabbed them a succession of 10s, making them the only couple to score 60 points for the night.
And now, with the judges' picks and freestyles in the can, it's still anyone's game in this ridiculously close "DWTS" race.
The "Dancing With the Stars" finale airs tonight on ABC.
