‘Dancing With the Stars: All Stars’ week 8 preview: The stars dish on their trio dances

It's a triple threat next week on "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars," and we've got the scoop on what the all-star competitors are saying about next week's dances.

In addition to a ballroom round, the "DWTS" powers that be are bringing trio dances back onto the floor. That means each couple gets to pick a troupe member or an ousted pro dancer to join them for a one-of-a-kind threesome. So who's dancing what with whom?

Monday night's high scorers Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani told On the Red Carpet that they chose "DWTS" troupe member Henry Byalikov for their trio paso doble next week.

Dovolani explained his team's strategy for next week's dance: "Trio is kind of like a showcase," he said. "The way I look at it is trying to get her to be the center of attention even more. Getting two boys to try to frame her as best as we can."

Actress Kirstie Alley took to Twitter to reveal who she and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will dance with in the trio round, and it's making her hungry: "@MaksimC @TristanMacManus....Paso ... 3 way... next week... DWTS…can't think of any sandwich I prefer being in the middle of…wonder bread."

And Apolo Ohno sounds excited about something. The speed skater tweeted, "Next week are some of my favorite dances!!!" His pro partner Karina Smirnoff already dished to Yahoo TV that they'll be dancing the tango and the jive, while "DWTS" troupe dancer Sasha Farber retweeted a post that said he would be joining the power couple for a jive to the song "Greased Lightening."

Actor Gilles Marini revealed i n a Facebook post who he and Peta Murgatroyd will dance with next week: "Next week we do the Quickstep and then a Trio Salsa, I chose @chelsiehightowr (Chelsie Hightower) to dance with us. I think she is an incredible dancer and a very sweet soul! it will be lot of fun!"

It may come as no surprise that Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough will take in Hough's "brother from another mother," Mark Ballas, for their trio dance. Not only did Ballas and Hough grow up together, but they have both partnered with Johnson. Ballas even scored perfect 10s when he danced with her this week while his bro healed from a neck injury.

After the show Derek tweeted, "Thanks Marky for stepping in while I healed up. The trio is back next week. Lego!!"

On his blog for ABC News, prematurely eliminated pro dancer Louis Van Amstel wrote: "Last season 'DWTS' introduced the trio dances and it was so successful that producers decided to bring it back. I'm not at liberty to share which pro will be added to each couple, but it's going to be very exciting. I personally can't wait!" (Louis should be excited; rumor has it he's paired with the super steamy Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy!)

As for Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke, according to Pure DWTS, the NFL star went with the former partner of another NLF star. Pro dancer Kym Johnson, who won the Season 12 mirror ball trophy with Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, will join Emmitt and Cheryl next week. Let's see if she can score a touchdown for them, too!

"Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" airs on 11/12 at 8 PM ET on ABC.
