David Boreanaz to Guest-Star on Downton Abbey?

Could David Boreanaz land a role on the prestigious British drama Downton Abbey simply by asking for one? Fans will have to wait and see, but the Bones star thinks he'd make a great suitor for Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), and he's taken to Twitter to ask Julian Fellowes, the show's writer and executive producer, if he agrees. "I'd like to be that American cowboy who shakes things up at Downton Abbey. I'm open for a visit Mr Fellowes. #ITV @masterpiecepbs," the actor tweeted yesterday.

On the last episode of the British series' second season (SPOILER ALERT!), the family decides to send Lady Mary to visit family in America to wait out an imminent scandal. "Find a cowboy in the Middle West and bring him back to shake us up a bit," her father, the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), tells her.

David would be great as when I initially viewed 'Angel' I was hooked on the handsome star; he is talented and has charisma that is through the roof... Loved him in Buffy and Bones as well as his role in the movie 'Valentine'... He's addictive...Oh, yes! :-)

I think he would be great on Downton Abbey, but not as a suitor for Mary. I think that Lady Edith should go to America and bring back David as her American cowboy. Poor Edith gets looked over all the time! I think she needs to have someone too.

I thought I was completely caught up with Downton! On the last episode Mary accepted the marriage proposal from the new heir to Downton! And she said yes! Although I did see on Bones the black and white episode and he would be a wonderful suitor for Mary. He has it going on and is an impeccible gentleman.

I don't think he's sexy, easy on the eyes, delicious, or adorable... but I'd willingly drink Lady Mary's bath water! But he'd make a pretty good Montana cowboy (Texas isn't the only place with us, you know), and I'd love to see him explaining spring roundups, branding, and calf castration to the Dowager Countess. Now if they could only incorporate a campfire scene like the one in Blazing Saddles.
