It's hard to imagine a plumber you'd want fixing your pipes more than Mike Delfino. Even with a prison record and a few enemies along the way, he's become one of the most liked characters on "Desperate Housewives."Mike Delfino arrived in the first season straight from prison, on a mission to locate his missing ex-girlfriend. He was unaware that the former drug addict Deidre had been killed and that she had bore him a son. It wasn't until the end of the season, when Zach Young kidnapped his new love Susan that he realized the boy was his. In Season two, Delfino tried and failed to connect with Zach. He and Susan moved on and were just about to become engaged when he was run over by Orson Hodge, Bree's husband.
For most of season three, Mike Delfino was in a coma. He finally awakened with no memory and a conniving Edie Britt convinced him that they were together. It would take until the end of that year until he and Susan would find their way back and marry, but a tumultuous fourth season would send him into abusing painkillers. When season five began (five years into the future), Mike and Susan were divorced. Flashbacks would show an unavoidable accident that had torn them apart, but they would get through their problems and find their way back together , despite the scheming of Susan's old friend Katherine Mayfair. Mike Delfino's only real problems after that were financial ones as his plumbing business wasn't exactly thriving through all the turmoil.
Season seven ended well for Mike and Susan Delfino. She had a new kidney and renewed health, and the duo had paid off their bills and were earning enough to move back to their house on Wisteria Lane. If anything, the season finale made their future look more boring than desperate, but chances are James Denton will keep things exciting on the air.
The son of a dentist, Denton grew up in Tennessee, but came to Chicago to do theater when he decided to be an actor. He still spends a lot of time there as he is part owner in Harry Caray's Tavern on Navy Pier, where he hosted a premiere party for the start of season seven of "Desperate Housewives." He feels the Windy City was the perfect place to get started "New York's a little bit daunting when you don't have much of a resume. If you're willing to work for free or cheap, there's more theater in Chicago than there is anywhere in the world."
Denton doesn't have to worry about working for "free" anymore. Chances are pretty good that he'll have no trouble finding paying work even if season eight is "Desperate Housewives'" last.
