The housewives of Wisteria Lane... you either love them or hate them, but they are too interesting not to get (and keep) your attention. It looks like another housewife proved to be desperate as history repeated itself once again with a suicide. And, ironically - or maybe not - it was Paul's wife who pulled the trigger. We wouldn't have a "Desperate Housewives" show if it weren't for a suicide. That's how it all started, with the dead Mary Alice Young killing herself. She was distraught over having played a part in the death of her adopted son Zach's birth mother, so she took a gun and shot herself. Was it ironic or was it fate that Paul Young's second wife should also die at her own hands?
The short-lived story of Beth Tilman Young was certainly very different than that of Mary Alice. Beth wasn't a long term love that Paul married. Beth was a correspondent of Paul's while he was in prison. The two actually married when they hardly knew each other, or so Paul thought. The truth was that Beth knew a lot more about him then he did about her. Like Mary Alice, she had a secret, but the secret was one her husband had no idea of. It was not the secret paternity of a child, but the actually the truth about who she really was - the daughter of Paul's number one enemy.
Felicia Tilman would not let Paul get away with murdering her sister and vowed to do whatever it took to put him behind bars. She even went as far as planning her own death to frame him for murder. The plan worked, until Felicia was found alive and Paul was released from prison. It was then she realized she needed another plan and she had no problem using her own daughter to do it.
Beth Tilman would convince Paul to marry her and though she really was painfully shy, she did whatever she needed to in order to get Paul to take her into his home and trust her. The plan was to get even for her aunt's death and her mother's imprisonment (after she was found to have faked her death). The only problem was that somewhere along the way, Beth had fallen in love with Paul and he had started to have feelings for her too.
When the truth came out about who Beth was, Paul's first thought was to kill her. Though he didn't go through with that, he did kick her out and make it clear that he never wanted to see her again. Felicia Tilman, realizing she wasn't going to get anymore help out of her daughter also turned her back and Beth was alone. She only had one thing to live for - being a kidney donor for Susan Delfino. When Bree announced that she was going to be the donor instead, Beth realized she had nothing left, so she drove to the hospital and shot herself, first pronouncing herself as there to donate a kidney.
On and around Wisteria Lane, desperate times call for desperate measures. Will Beth Young turn out to be the most desperate, or is there another housewife sacrifice to come?
