Innocence and trust dive to the depths of dishonesty in "Young and the Restless" each day. Adam Wilson aka Victor Newman Jr.is so busy changing from bad to good and back it is hard to believe anything he says or does. Most fans are safe to take the view that he has enough baggage to justify his actions. Victor ignored Adam while he was growing up at the request of Victor's girlfriend, Hope Adams. On her deathbed, Hope confessed that Victor was Adam's father. Adam moved to Genoa City, working at Newman Enterprises. He has faked his own death, stolen a baby, defied court orders and traded one dishonest scheme for another. Victor has disowned him because of his actions against the family, Victor himself and Newman Enterprises.
Victor Newman has ticked off so many people that it is easy to believe he has no one left to trust. Those few he once considered trustworthy are involved in the drama of the demise of Newman Enterprises. It is hard to believe a man like Victor, who has been married and had long-term affairs with many women, is so clueless regarding retaliation. Someone needs to point out it is time for him to take names and assess positions. His stronghold of followers have been threatened or hurt by the lawsuits, criminal charges and proposed public sale of Newman Enterprises. They have turned against him or are staying out of his daily drama as much as possible.
To keep Victor out of the loop while stock sales go public, Diane plays the baby card. For all his overbearing, pompous ways, even the wicked Diane knows that Victor cares for his family, although they are doing him wrong. The ploy is designed to keep Victor hear the announcement of his death, which will cause the stock prices to plummet, making them easy to pick up for an incredibly low price. Adam's experience on the stock market enables him to help Jack manipulate the stock to their advantage.
Victor's demand for a paternity test results in Diane having pains and needing an ambulance to get to the hospital. She disables Victor's cell phone so no one can contact him. As soon as Victor gets Diane to confess she is lying about being pregnant, he rushes home. The damage is irreversible or so it seems. In Hollywood's Genoa City, things can and do change in a heartbeat. Scenarios to follow and watch for include how Katherine is going to explain why she did not tell Victor of the scheme. Diane again took advantage of Victor's trust. Just as fans thought she was leaving, it seems the writers are going to create a better role for Diane. Along with Adam and Jack, Diane has taken part in a major felony just to get back at Victor.
Sharon, Victoria, Nikki, Billy and Nick will continue to keep the city buzzing over the summer. It will be an interesting, intriguing and complex weave of deception.
