Diana DeGarmo Gets Engaged on Stage - Plus Other "Idol" Relationships

Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young stole the show on the season finale of "American Idol". The Idol alums took the stage not for a performance, but for a reality TV worthy engagement during the live show.

Viewers were given the glimpse into the couple's private life when host Ryan Seacrest called the couple to the stage. The house lights dimmed and Young won every woman's heart when he said, "This has always been home to us and I felt that this would be the perfect place to ask a simple question."

He then dropped to one knee and added, "We have conquered Broadway together. We have created new music together. We have an amazing group of people around us. And with the help of David Webb jewelry, I have a way to make this last forever. Are you ready? I love you to death. You're my best friend. I want to make this last forever and I will anything in my power to have the most.... amazing life together if you will have me. Diana Nicole DeGarmo, will you marry me?"

For her part, the young singer held it together amidst the overwhelming emotion and finally responded, "Yes".

DeGarmo was the season three runner-up and Young came in seventh during season five. They became a couple in 2010 when they appeared in the Broadway revival of the musical "Hair".

Congratulations to the happy couple. Here's a look at some of the other relationships that have come out of "American Idol" hookups:

David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell: The season seven winner hooked up with the season two contestant just months after walking away with the title in 2008. He famously asked her out on the red carpet before the seventh season finale. They stayed together for a few months before calling it quits in early 2009 due to conflicting schedules.

Jordin Sparks: The season six winner has been making beautiful music with the pop singer Jason Derulo since last summer. The two started out as friends, but romance hit when they were both performing in the Bahamas last year. Derulo became a fixture on the singing competition as part of Coca-Cola's "Perfrect Harmony" program which asked fans to help write the song "Undefeated" which he performed on Tuesday's final performance show.

Paul McDonald: It was instant love when the season ten contestant met his lady love, "Twilight" star Nikki Reed, on the red carpet last year. Within two months of bumping into each other at the "Little Red Riding Hood" premiere in 2011, the couple were engaged and four months later they were married.
