Diane Kruger Signs On to FX Pilot The Bridge

Diane Kruger has joined FX's drama pilot The Bridge, the network announced Thursday.

Based on the Scandinavian series i Bron, The Bridge, the project is about two detectives from the United States and Mexico who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border. Kruger will play El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North, a tactless and frank cop who tells it like it is. She's paired with Marco Ruiz, a Mexican detective who has the people skills and empathy she lacks.

The gig is the first regular TV series role for Kruger, who made an uncredited cameo on boyfriend Joshua Jackson's show Fringe in 2010. Her film credits include Troy, the National Treasure movies and Inglourious Basterds, for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the cast and earned a supporting actress SAG nomination.

Production on The Bridge will begin in the fall. The pilot was written by Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and Elwood Reid (Hawaii Five-0) and will be directed by Mexcian director Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala).
