Mark Harmon has Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Boxleitner and most of his counterparts in Hollywood beat. The NCIS star is still married and his nuclear family reign supreme inspite of the odds. Yes, Hollywood has couples who endure the test of time.
Mark Harmon and his wife, Pam Dawber, have been married since 1987. Dawber was just starting out as an actress and was cast alongside another unknown in 1978, Robin Williams, in the Happy Days spin-off, "Mork and Mindy." "Mork and Mindy" was on the air from 1978 to 1982 where Mork from Ork was an alien while Dawber's Mindy was a normal human trying to help the alien understand life here on earth. Things changed between Mork and Mindy in the later seasons as the two fell in love and wed. The major kink to the show was the fact that on Ork, the male actually laid an egg instead of the female. It was a hilarious time watching Robin Williams and Pam Dawber going through one of life's greatest challenges. What was even funnier was when the baby was born he was played by Jonathon Winters. It seems babies' age backwards on Ork.
Fortunately for Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber, they are not aliens. They have two children, Sean and Ty Christian, who are aging like normal earthlings.
Mark Harmon has managed to keep his private life, well--private. He has had a few moments in the spotlight, such as the time in 1996 when he rescued two teens from a burning car while Dawber called 911. His father was professional a football player and actually won the 1940 Heisman Trophy. With his athletic background and great looks, (he has been named People Magazine's "The Sexiest Man Alive," is it any wonder that more paparazzi cameras are not pointed in his direction.
With the confusion of Hollywood's couples, it is amazing when you find someone to admire. We can all admire Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber. They are down to earth and raising down-to- earth children. Their oldest son, Sean, has played a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs on "NCIS" when called for.
Mark Harmon is not seeking the political spotlight, nor doing nothing different than he always has. He is keeping his family close and enjoying the rewards of his career with Pam Dawber.
You will probably not find the paparazzi chasing after the next generation of Harmons'. Of course, with the athletic backgrounds, the paparazzi may not be able to catch them.
