“Dr. Phil” enjoyed a big bump with its two-part interview with Cleveland kidnapping victim Michelle Knight, hitting season highs, according to preliminary numbers.
The Tuesday edition of “Dr. Phil,” which featured the first part of host Phil McGraw’s interview with Knight, scored a 4.0/11 in overnight ratings for the 56 metered markets, the highest so far this season for the syndicated offering.
Aside from marking a season high, those numbers represent a 33 percent climb over last week and a 38 percent jump over the same time last year.
Not surprisingly, the episode did particularly well in Ohio, averaging a 15.6/32 on Cleveland’s WKYC and drawing its highest numbers, a 16.4/46, on Dayton’s WHIO.
Wednesday’s episode with the second part of McGraw’s interview with Knight also drew a 4.0/11.
In total viewers, the Knight interviews are expected to surpass the 4 million that “Dr. Phil” has averaged so far this season. National ratings will be released Nov. 19.
