Bristol Palin is the controversial contestant on season 11 of "Dancing with the Stars" and reports won't leave her alone that she remains on the show only because of who her mother is. So what if Sarah Palin happens to be Bristol's mom, no one finds this "DWTS" contestant likable?
Why do I vote for Bristol Palin on "DWTS"? My list of reasons will explain why she makes "Dancing" worth watching in season 11.
I think we need more contestants on "DWTS" like Bristol who people can actually relate to. She had the courage to enter a competition in a rather intimidating environment where millions would be watching her, being fully aware she would be criticized. Bristol entered the public stage in 2008 when her mother was running for Vice President of the United States. In the turmoil that followed, the father of her child made a nuisance of himself by kissing and telling and exploiting her family. Throughout it all, Bristol put on a brave front and handled herself with dignity.
So, how does that make me vote for Bristol on "DWTS"? Easy. She works hard and goes out and performs her best on a national stage. It's not easy to learn complicated dances in one week, be able to emote, and have some semblance of acting skills while remembering the steps. So many contestants on "DWTS" already have a stellar dance background or at least some type of experience before they practiced behind closed doors.
Bristol Palin is voted on more than just dancing. Bristol Palin is a great dancer on "DWTS." When I vote for someone on the show, I take into consideration what kind of person they really are. Are thy difficult to work with? Do they show their dance partners an ugly side of themselves during practice footage? I notice a lot of so-called "stars" give their dance partners a lot of grief and attitude, which is a complete turn off to me.
Bristol represents a lot of who I am as person. Bristol Palin's appearance on "DWTS" represents a lot of who I am when I watch on the show. She's somewhat shy, insists on being who she is, and is determined to try her best and finds the strength to shrug off the criticism thrown at her for remaining on the show. That part I would find difficult and I think it's refreshing to see a young lady on "DWTS" go in there and show them what she's got. It takes more fortitude than people give Bristol credit for.
I vote for Bristol Palin because she cares about her performance. Bristol cares a lot about her dancing and wants to do well. She continues to do what's required of her in practice with Mark Ballas. Mark and her are a cute pair on the dance floor and I can see he truly believes she's doing her best, which enhances my reason to vote for her even more. He works with her 10-12 hour days and it's obvious he's impressed with her work ethic. So many young people don't have good values when it comes to working hard for something in today's society.
Bristol the "pistol" sticks to her guns. At the beginning of the season Bristol set her foot down and made up her mind to be "conservative" in her dress on "DWTS." How many women can relate to that! Not all women want to show off everything just because they're dancing or have an amazing body. Bristol isn't your typical skinny star, but she still looks great and reminds those of us who can't imagine squeezing into one of those tiny costumes that it's okay to dress more conservative and still pull off a sexy dance. It's inspiring and that's what voters are getting from Bristol in season 11 of "DWTS."
It doesn't matter to me that Bristol has continuously been in the bottom two on "DWTS" all season. It's not just about the judges' scores and that's part of the charm of the show. Bristol Palin encourages and inspires people, especially teenage girls. She's a single mom who's been through millions of viewers have been in her shoes. Bristol Palin is good for "DWTS" and she'll have my votes as long as I continue to see the same Bristol I have all season long.
