‘Go On’ episode ‘Back, Back, Back … It’s Gone!’ is a pain in the back: Recap

The "Go On" episode "Back, Back, Back … It's Gone!" was an entertaining look at dating life from an "old guy's" perspective. It's not that Ryan (Matthew Perry) is an old guy physically, but losing a loved one can age a person … and make them a bit crotchety. Some old guys, such as blind George, take life changes in stride. And a few others, such as cat-lady Sonia (Sarah Baker), are able to handle grief through complete insanity.

    Old man Ryan starts dating

Ryan decides to begin dating with a dating profile that makes it clear that he is a crazy, Porsche-driving widower. Since women love a man who is broken (as Ryan would say), he gets plenty of offers from his profile.

The supremely awesome Olympic volleyball legend, Misty May-Treanor, makes an appearance as "almost herself." Her role is to introduce Ryan to all her hot friends. Unfortunately, he throws his back out while playing volleyball with them and begins walking around stooped over like an old man.

Lauren's (Laura Benanti) chiropractor boyfriend, Wyatt (Hayes MacArthur), fixes Ryan's back temporarily. When it goes out again, Ryan shows up at Lauren's door. When she tries to help him through some emotional pain, he tries to kiss her. She scoots out of the way, causing him to fall flat on his back. Wyatt walks in, and begins another treatment. Wyatt hints at the fact that he saw what Ryan did, practically scaring the life out of Ryan until he finally confesses.

Wyatt makes the final move to fix Ryan's back during the confession. Wyatt is totally fine with the kiss attempt, because it turns out that everyone in the group has tried to make some sort of pass at Lauren. Wyatt has a good laugh at the situation and leaves Ryan alone with Lauren to talk it out.

    George's birthday list

George (Bill Cobbs) creates an insane birthday list that includes visiting Las Vegas and Mexico. It also includes a drawing that everyone agrees looks like Fausta. While the group is busy trying to coddle him, he takes off to live it up. The group worries about him until he shows up with a phone packed with photos of himself, proving that he completed half the items on his list, including hanging out with plenty of beautiful women.

Danny delves deeper into insanity while joining Sonia's search for Puddin'

Danny (Seth Morris) and Sonia are probably the most insane members of the group to begin with. Danny is nuts because he continues to be a faithful husband to a woman who is having a child with another man who is also abusive to Danny. Sonia is crazy because she drowns her sorrow in cat-collecting.

Sonia becomes incensed when Fausta loses Sonia's cat, Puddin'. Danny decides to join the search with Sonia, whose search map looks like a cat. The two of them are indignant at the idea that the group cares more about George than the cat. Danny even learns Sonia's "cat call."

When Fausta finds Puddin' in her oven (good thing she cooks everything in the microwave or Puddin' would literally be toast), she allows Danny to take the credit. This results in Sonia giving Danny a big fat kiss on the lips at the end of the episode. Does this mean they will be a couple now? It will be interesting to see the two crazies find love with each other.
