The "Go On" episode "Gooooaaaallll Doll!" was all about setting goals. Well, that and mean girls. Yolanda (Suzy Nakamura) introduces the group to "goal-setting dolls." Group members write their goal on the doll but only fill in one eye. They get to fill in the other eye once the goal is accomplished. Lauren (Laura Benanti) becomes jealous of the goal dolls, hoping they will fail. She brings the issues of everyone in the group together at the end and decides that the inevitable failure of their goal dolls is all because of mean girls.
Ryan's goal: "Get first date over with"
Ryan (Matthew Perry) begins hanging out with his assistant, Carrie (Allison Miller), but only as "girlfriends." He explains that he loves to do "girly" things, such as beading and watching "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." The only problem is that it's keeping him from his goal of getting the first date after Janie's death out of the way.
He decides to go on a date with Carrie's gorgeous friend, Hannah (Nazanin Boniadi). They have their date, share a kiss, and he marks the other eye on his goal doll. Goal completed! The only problem is that Carrie becomes jealous and decides that she is attracted to Ryan.
Goal doll failure
Hannah soon breaks up with Ryan so she can go out with the much more cool and hilariously smooth talking Shaun White (playing himself), but Ryan won't stand for that. He talks Hannah into going to a fancy party with him instead. This leads to trouble when Ryan forgets to tell Carrie that he changed his plans after she offered to go with him.
Carrie shows up to the party in a beautiful dress but gets no love. After one of the women at the party calls her a skank, Ryan seems completely surprised to see her. He tells her she can "assist" with his date. Lauren thinks Ryan's lack of empathy stems from his feeling of empowerment after initially being rejected by Hannah and getting through it without a scratch.
Ryan eventually apologizes to Carrie by rejecting Hannah's offer to sleep with him, and Carrie and Ryan go back to doing "girly" things together. Carrie confesses her attraction to him but claims it's all in jest, because Ryan is way too old for her.
Lauren says that Ryan's behavior toward Carrie was that of a 15-year-old mean girl. Earlier, Ryan said his goal date would be a "funnier Rachel McAdams with bigger boobs." Lauren explains that Rachel McAdams was in "Mean Girls," and therefore ties in with her mean-girl theory for why the goal dolls failed.
Yolanda's goal: Act like a "slutty party girl"
Meanwhile, Yolanda decides she will have much more fun by pretending to be a "slutty party girl." Of course, she's nothing of the sort. The goal is simply to pretend she's wild and crazy. Like Ryan, she initially accomplishes her goal but fails in the end. Her goal backfires when she's called in for a drug test and winds up "coming clean" about being clean.
Mean girls made Yolanda do it
Lauren explains that Yolanda's plan was doomed to fail because it was all in response to being made fun of by mean girls. In a final act of triumph over goal dolls, Lauren gets Danny to hold up one of the dolls so she can kick it out of his hand.
