TV’s erstwhile Barney Miller is Mindy Project-bound.
Hal Linden, who portrayed the titular captain on the Emmy-winning ’70s sitcom, has booked a guest spot in an upcoming episode of the hit Fox comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The veteran actor will play Manny, a former Army drill sergeant who is still living vigorously in a nursing home.
Linden’s most recent credits include Adult Swim’s procedural spoof NTSF:SD:SUV:: and TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland.
The Mindy Project airs Tuesdays at 9:30/9:30c.
