The year-old Broadway actor, 27, will play a working-class Brooklyn-born sexy singer with a self-destructive streak, according to the site. In early casting calls for the role, the character "Danny" was also described as remote but charismatic. Maybe his character can be a new love interest for Karen?
Raza Jaffrey, who played Karen's ho-hum, play-it-too-safe fiancé Dev in Season 1 ("I'm in tech!"), is one of four series regulars not returning next year. This list also includes Will Chase (Michael Swift), Brian d'Arcy James (Frank) and Jaime Cepero (the world's most-hated assistant, Ellis).
Smash is still casting two additional series regular roles: Courtney, an African American chorus member with the confidence to back up her powerhouse voice, and Joe, a gay and very optimistic singer who also hails from Brooklyn.
Are you excited for this new addition to Smash?
