Fergie and Josh Duhamel Talk Baby Plans: Their Quest to Become Parents

It's finally time for baby! Since their wedding in January 2009, Fergie and Josh Duhamel have been constantly asked by their fans when they're going to have a baby together, and they now have an answer. The couple announced on Twitter Feb. 18 that they are expecting their first child together.

"Josh & Me & BABY makes three!" Fergie, 37, and Duhamel, 40, both tweeted with a picture of them as children. A source told Us Weekly, "They just found out and tweeted it to the world."

The Black Eyed Peas singer and Safe Haven actor have always been open about their desire to start a family together. Here, Us Weekly takes a look back at the couple's journey to parenthood.

"Am I getting broody? Oh, definitely! But I want to finish this tour first before trying to start a family," Fergie told the Daily Mail after almost a year of marriage. "We're never going to be at this time of our lives again so we have to make the most of it."

    April 2010

“[I want to wait until] after the tour because I can't be jumping around with those other boys if I am," the singer told Hollywood Life about her plans to start a family. The Black Eyed Peas: The E.N.D World Tour wrapped up in August 2010.

    May 2011

On a break from touring with The Black Eyed Peas, Fergie told Hollyscoop that "of course" she had plans to start a family with Duhamel. "Not right this second," she added, "not pregnant for the record."

    December 2011

"We hope to have a baby pretty soon," the Life As We Know It actor told Hollyscoop. "I've always loved kids, so I can't wait to have them myself. I'm excited about it."

After the Black Eyed Peas announced they were on an indefinite hiatus, Fergie was asked whether she'd use the time to start a family with Duhamel. "It's not happening yet, I can tell you that definitely," Fergie told MTV News. "But we want to have a family, so that is in the cards, but it's just not this second."

    June 2012

At a PetSmart Charities event, Duhamel told Us that he didn't plan to adopt another dog with Fergie just yet. "We're going to focus on a human first," Duhamel said. "We're going to focus on raising a human and then maybe we'll get a dog after that."

    September 2012

"[People ask if I'm pregnant] every time I fluctuate a few pounds. Like right now, I'm a couple pounds up," Fergie said while visiting the Rachael Ray Show. "Sometimes I go a couple pounds down and I wear the clothes that are more fitted, but people kind of look at me because they're expecting [that] it's that time. We do hope for children and that will be coming up, but it's not yet."

    October 2012

During an appearance on Oprah's Next Chapter, Duhamel said he hoped to have five children, but Fergie lowered his expectations. "We negotiated that early on," the 37-year-old singer said. "Two is our number."

    February 2013

Playing a single father of two in Safe Haven, Duhamel told Parade magazine that the role gave him a glimpse into fatherhood. "But I already had an idea of what fatherhood would be like," he added. "It's something I’ve always wanted. It's the most important thing. When I do become a father, it will be my greatest achievement."
