Five Cool Ways to Get Even More 'Walking Dead' In Your Life
You wait each week for new episodes, wondering when someone's finally gonna make sure the Governor gets the comeuppance he so richly deserves (way to miss that golden opportunity, Andrea). You read "The Walking Dead" comics. You scan the Interwebs for spoilers, video clips, photos, and interviews with cast members. But what can "Walking Dead" fans do to get even more zombie love in their lives?
Glad you asked … here, five ways "The Walking Dead" devoted can experience even more of the adventures of Rick Grimes and his fellow zombie apocalypse survivors:
"The Walking Dead" magazine
Make that the official "Walking Dead" magazine, meaning lots of access to the show's sets, stars, and producers; lots of great photos and comic book excerpts; and features on everything from how the Season 3 prison set was created to how a person is turned into a zombie via the show's special-effects team. Only three issues of the mag have been produced by Titan Publishing so far, including this week's issue, No. 3, with a cover story on everyone's favorite brothers, Daryl and Merle Dixon. Single issues, back issues, and subscriptions are available. The premier issue features a cover-story interview with Danai "Michonne" Gurira, and issue No. 2's cover touts an interview with the Governor himself, David Morrissey.

"The Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick moderated the 1.5-hour "Walking Dead" event at PaleyFest on March 1, and Hulu.com has video of the entire Q+A session, which included stars Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Scott Wilson, and Emily Kinney, plus producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Ann Hurd, Dave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero. The gang talks about their characters, where the show is heading in the final four episodes of the season, the evolution of kid badass Carl Grimes, and the possibility of a Daryl/Carol hook-up.

"The Walking Dead" Escape is an obstacle course where fans -- acting as walkers or survivors -- wend their way through some of the same experiences that Rick Grimes and pals have survived on the TV show and in the comics. Course points include the evacuation zone, the "herd highway," a prison gauntlet, "hospital hell" (remember, that's where we first met Rick on the show), and a run-in with the Governor's "gladiators." Escape events are happening in Philadelphia in April and San Diego in July, and those with the best times on the course may qualify to compete in "The Survivor Showdown" for a $2,500 grand prize. P.S.: We'd spring for the Walker package. Not only do you get to "stalk" the course for 2.5 hours, but you also get a professional makeup session and walker training.

"The Walking Dead: Survival Extinct," an Xbox 360/Wii U/PlayStation 3/PC Activision video game that will be released on March 19, is a first-person "action survivor" adventure in which fan favorite Daryl Dixon (voiced by Norman Reedus) and his considerably less huggable big brother, Merle (voiced by Michael Rooker), try to survive the early days of the zombie apocalypse in the Georgia countryside. Players assume the identity of Daryl (with his ever-present crossbow, of course) or Merle as the brothers try to make their way to (alleged) safety in Atlanta, so the game is a prequel to the events of "The Walking Dead" Season 1.

There are the comics, of course (including last fall's issue 100, which introduced a new, barbed-wire-covered, bat-wielding villain who does something shocking and horrific in his first issue), but since the Governor's story continues to be one of the series' greatest hits, "Dead" creator Robert Kirkman and writer Jay Bonansinga spun him off into his own three-part novel series. It began with "The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor," continued in "The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury," and will conclude in September 2013's "The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor."
