During the course of "Castle " so far, f ans will find four separate climaxes. The buildups for these climaxes were interwoven into the flow of the series early on and are added to each week. The characters on the show have passed one such climax so far with the second one coming up very soon. The final two will mark the end of the show.
Rick's profession of love to Kate was the first climax of the show. Fans waited for him to finally come to terms with his emotions and tell his partner how he truly felt. The realization of his true feelings was something as important to Rick as it was to Kate, and as it was to the show as a whole.
Due to the previews for the Season 4 finale, fans are led to believe that Kate will be making her profession to Rick during the finale. It should not surprise anyone if the finale ends on her profession or if the cliffhanger into the next season happens just before she says what she needs to. This moment will prove that her walls have finally come down, and she is ready to admit what is in her heart.
Solving of Kate's Mother's Murder
The third "Castle" climax will be the closure in the case of Beckett's mother's murder. The entire show has been building up two stories since the beginning. The case of the murder of the detective's mother only takes a back seat to Rick and Kate's love story on the show. The end of this case will also mark the end of the show since the characters will finally have the closure they have searched for since they became partners.
Rick and Kate Forever
While the profession of love between Rick and Kate created two climaxes in the flow of the series, "Castle" fans will need closure as proof that the characters will be together forever. Nobody should be surprised if the show ends when the two get engaged or married. It would be a fitting way to combine two of the three previous climaxes into a permanent one.
Most shows will have climaxes through the series that people have waited for. The four climaxes in the progression of "Castle" are fitting because they have gained buildup since the beginning of the show. The writers have done a great job in slowly building up to these climaxes and making the viewers wait each week to see how close the characters are getting to the next important moment.
