At the WWE Survivor Series event on Nov. 20, "Friday Night Smackdown" star Randy Orton will team up with Sin Cara, Mason Ryan, Sheamus and Kofi Kingston to take on Wade Barrett, Hunico, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger and Christian. Orton has been a part of several Survivor Series teams, including a Super Team. A Survivor Series Super Team consists of some of the best WWE stars teaming together for one night only. In the long history of the Survivor Series, there have been a select few super teams that made an instant impact before the match even started.
The Ultimate Survivors
At the 1990 WWE Survivor Series, all of the Survivor Series match winners would team up in a main event to declare the "Ultimate Survivors." The face team was composed of Tito Santana, Hulk Hogan, and the then-current WWE Champion, The Ultimate Warrior. All three wrestlers are ring legends in their own right and they came upon a five man team led by the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. Tito Santana was eliminated, but the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan proved their worth by outlasting the other opponents and forming one of the best teams in Survivor Series history.
Team Piper
The 1991 Survivor Series was highlighted by a singles match featuring Hulk Hogan against the Undertaker, but WWE fans should remember the opening bout that included the all-star Team Piper. Roddy Piper and Bret Hart are both WWE Hall of Fame members and Wrestlemania headliners who teamed up with classic WWE manager Virgil and the British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith. The mix of these stars provided a lot of different in-ring styles and the perfect chemistry for a Survivor Series team. A huge brawl led nearly everyone in the match to be disqualified except for Ric Flair, who was awarded the victory.
Team WWF
In a battle of WWE against WCW, it was all or nothing for the WWE as the company was on the line at the 2001 Survivor Series. To accomplish this victory, Vince McMahon assembled the best he had to offer. The team members were The Rock, Chris Jericho, Kane, Undertaker and The Big Show. All five teammates are former multi-time WWE Champions, and the latter three are some of the biggest wrestlers ever to compete in a WWE ring. The team was even more impressive as they defeated the high-caliber Team Alliance. Team Alliance consisted of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon's son, Shane.
Other Survivor Series Super TeamsOther teams that impressed during the WWE Survivor Series include The Teamsters. The Teamsters included Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Jarrett and the late Owen Hart. The 2005 Survivor Series had the super team dubbed as "Team Smackdown." This team included a recent collection of WWE Champions such as Randy Orton, Batista, Rey Mysterio and JBL.
