The wait is almost over! Fans of Fox's sci-fi series "Fringe" are just one month away from catching the highly anticipated season premiere of this epic, mythology-heavy J.J. Abrams project.
In this exclusive clip, one thing is clear: Season 5 of "Fringe" will pack a punch and amaze fans with more spectacle, romance, and Observers than ever before.
"You know, I think I would be happy to stay here for the rest of my life," we hear Peter say as he and Olivia lie together on a blanket, relaxing in a sunny park. It's a calm, serene moment for the lovers, who were revealed to be having a child together in the Season 4 finale. But as the clip moves on, it appears that an army of Observers is marching through the very same park.

A montage of dramatic events unfolds, each featuring the enigmatic, bald-headed Observers. One shot shows an Observer with a gun trained on an unknown person; another reveals a large group of Observers, who seem to be working with the military in some capacity. In yet another, we see an Observer interrogating Walter Bishop, who has been tied to a chair.
"You are fighting much more than I would have thought possible," the Observer tells a beaten, bloodied Dr. Bishop.
As the Observer called September told Walter at the end of last season, "They are coming." The Observers are closing in around Walter, Peter, and Olivia, and this final season promises to keep "Fringe" fanatics on the edge of their seats.

Unlike most of the Observer encounters in the past, these Season 5 Observers stand out due to their propensity toward violence. Given that John Noble, who plays Walter Bishop, told reporters that much of Season 5 will take place in the year 2036, it seems likely that the Observers in Season 5 are the same ones who took over the planet in Season 4's "flash forward" episode "Letters of Transit."
Despite some delays during filming this summer, the fifth and final season of "Fringe" is still scheduled to premiere on Sept. 28 on Fox. Production was shut down on July 24 due to health problems plaguing several cast members but resumed on Aug. 7. Blair Brown had a minor illness, Jasika Nicole needed time to recuperate after a car accident, and John Noble was suffering from sleep problems so severe that he couldn't think straight on the set.

With Noble back in good health, "Fringe" fans can finally stop worrying about the fate of the man who plays Walter Bishop and continue worrying about Walter Bishop himself.
The Season 5 premiere of "Fringe" is titled "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11" and will premiere Friday, 9/28 at 9 PM on Fox.
