Lisa Cuddy has referenced her mother's relationship on rare occasion. She has also mentioned she hated when her mom comes to town because they do not get along.Lisa has complained to her mom about House. House had never met Lisa's mom until Arlene visits the clinic to check House out before announcing who she is to him. They are Lisa's birthday dinner and things start to get interesting personally and medically. This is the first time anyone has seen Lisa's phantom mom, Arlene Cuddy.
Arlene Cuddy is a 65 year old woman. She is Lisa and Lucinda Cuddy's mom. She has had 15 years of clinical visits. Arlene has been going in to clinic where Lisa works to have her continual symptoms checked out. She has complained about dizziness, heart palpitations, rashes, and other aches and pains for 15 years. She has had one hip replacement.
Arlene felt betrayed and lied to because of the stunts they pulled on her while trying to treat her. She found out through Martha Masters when she told her attending doctor about what they were doing in front of her.
During her treatment, Arlene could not understand sarcasm. That surprises House. Due to her hip replacement, Arlene had heavy metal poisoning from the hip replacement. The heavy metal poisoning was cobalt poisoning.
Arlene Cuddy has had a five year affair with a married man. Her excuse for this was she wanted to have sex with the man and his wife did not want to. Arlene started having her affair after her husband died. Arlene's man of five years is a Hispanic man.
Arlene is drugged by House because he found her to be annoying and wanted to be alone with Lisa. She lost control at a museum luncheon from drinking too much. Her friends Patsy and Ann told Lisa this.
Arlene has more in common with Julie because she's nice to her. She likes Julie more than Lisa because of that. She tells Lisa she is not always nice to her and that is why she does not like her.
Arlene Cuddy is a Christian who would prefer to be Jewish and converted. She converted when Lisa's parents were married. She is strong minded and willed, over critical and overbearing when it comes to anything and everything about her life.
Arlene did not notice House had slipped her a mickey in her wine at Lisa's birthday dinner. She thought she had too much to drink.
