Gary Busey and Ted Haggard Ready for 'Wife Swap'

Last season celeb watchers were bowled over by eccentric actor Gary Busey's appearances on NBC reality competition show "Celebrity Apprentice." For a while he seemed like the Teflon contestant, baffling his famous co-stars and fans alike with his peculiar antics. Even the show's creator Donald Trump was confused by Busey's abrasive personality and off-putting ways. At one point Trump proclaimed that either Busey was a brilliantly manipulative mastermind or a total nutcase. The group of friends that I watched with actually applauded when Gary was finally fired. We assume that he then went home to his family to either gloat or cry but we couldn't even imagine who would live with this celebrated Captain of Oddness.

Disgraced evangelical pastor Ted Haggard's claim to fame is that of a cheating minister. Unfortunately being a minister with a public scandal is not enough to get you noticed these days. The Haggard story was sent into overdrive when he admitted to frequenting a male escort and using crystal meth. Yikes. At the center of the tumultuous tale of personal temptations and earthly failing was Haggard's long suffering wife. Gayle Haggard thrust herself further into the spotlight when she appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" with a heartfelt tell-all memoir entitled "Why I Stayed: The Choices I Made In My Darkest Hour."

Enter "Wife Swap." The ABC reality show that takes two diametrically opposed families and swaps wives for two weeks is back with a twist. This time the families are celebrity families. That's right; it's time for "Celebrity Wife Swap."

You've watched your celebs dance on "Dancing With The Stars." You've seen them, including Gary Busey, seek sobriety on "Celebrity Rehab." Now let's watch them swap wives.

Wondering what celebs might subject themselves to such a thing?

"Celebrity Wife Swap" will feature none other than professional loose cannon Gary Busey and former super-church leader Ted Haggard -- in the same episode. The wives in question will be Gayle Haggard and Gary's girlfriend Steffanie Sampson, mother of his baby son Luke. Yikes, again! This sounds like a recipe for disaster, and we love it. That's how we like our reality television.

The Colorado Springs Gazette claims that the show began filming at the GLBT Pride Center in Colorado Springs. I know that you are thinking the same thing that I am; curiouser and curiouser.

There are many unanswered questions in our minds. What is Steffanie Sampson like? How will the calm, upright Gayle Haggard deal with Gary? Will Ted attempt to preach to the unmarried Stef and Gary for living in sin? And then there is the biggest question of all: Why are they all doing this?!

All of these questions and more should be answered on ABC's new version of "Wife Swap," Celebrity Edition. Check your local listings. We will absolutely be watching. We couldn't resist it if the president was simultaneously making an announcement that world peace had broken out.

Will you be watching with us?
