Gerard Butler Leaves Rehab for Substance Abuse

Gerard Butler is on the mend.

The Scottish actor, 42, has wrapped up a substance treatment program, his rep confirmed.

"Gerard has completed a successful course of treatment and has returned home in good health," the spokesperson told E! News. "We will not be making any further comment at this time."

According to TMZ, the Bounty Hunter star checked in to the Betty Ford Center three weeks ago to deal with an escalating problem with prescription pills.

Butler's problem reportedly began following injuries while making the action epic 300 in 2006; a December 2011 surfing accident in his film Of Men and Mavericks made his pain-management challenges worse.

TMZ also reports that Butler struggled with cocaine use as well.

  yep, narcotics=no appetite + can't remember if you ate or not ! I took them (for pain/prescribed ) and lost 15 lbs. in 3 wks. that I didn't need to. Scared me. Never again, I'll take the pain w/aspirin ! (looked horrible) Demi,Angie etc.

  He's getting older and the weight loss makes he look different. He will never look as good as he did in Dracula 2000 not the best movie but he made it worth watching

Gerard is one FINE hunk of man-meat, seriously. Those penetrating blue eyes, that rugged yet sweet masculinity...more so in the past. He is not looking as vibrant as he has before. I wish him well in being drug-free forever! He has to stay away from that lifestyle and the ppl in it. Getting your kicks in healthy, legal ways like yoga and exploring nature and making love w/the one you love are way better than drugs could ever be. More Gerard in movies, please.

That is how people usually get addicted to pain pills, They get hurt and the dr gives you pain meds and after a few weeks or more your hooked on them and your body gets use to them. He is one one the most GORGEOUS man I have ever seen. I wish him all the best.

  Most of Hollywood cant tell the difference between the accents anyway, hell they make anybody "foreign" in a film have a British accent.

Wow! I never would have thought someone such as Gerard, would have substance abuse problems! What a shocker! Maybe that is how he lost his weight? Cocaine? Crystal Meth? I had past friends in my life who did this, and is exactly why I left them...they were always up to NO GOOD! as well as too thinking mainly about the guys as for 'scores'...bad stories I can share about my past blonde haired, light eyed girlfriends I hung out with in my past.
