After discovering how stiff the competition is to gain admittance to a performing arts school, both divas of the New Directions are struggling to find a way to go to NYADA on "Glee." Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel both believed no one wanted their dreams as much as they did. They quickly found out that others had been working on the same thing their whole lives, and had much more to show on their applications. If Kurt and Rachel don't make it to NYADA, what will they do next?
Focus on Relationships
Rachel has Finn, who plans to stay in Lima, Ohio after graduation. If her dreams of attending NYADA fall to the wayside, she could stay with Finn and help him at the body shop. With Kurt, things become a bit more complicated. While Finn isn't interested in the performing arts as a career, Blaine may be. Kurt would be forced to watch as Blaine has a chance at the dreams Kurt has coveted his whole life. However, Kurt could simply enjoy being a part of Blaine's dreams and focus on helping him achieve his goals.
Local Theater
While it wouldn't lead to world fame, Rachel and Kurt could focus on establishing themselves as local celebrities. They are already known from competitions. They could become stars in community theater. While both would easily shun the idea now, should their dream fall apart, it could be the only thing that allows them to still perform.
Those Who Can't, Teach
In order to earn a living and still perform, their best course of action is to look up to Will and Shelby. They wanted the spotlight, but instead they teach. Rachel and Kurt could easily become teachers or even coaches. Without a degree, they would likely be forced to stick with coaching. With their ranges and abilities, students would love a chance to learn from them. It would be difficult for them to swallow their pride and help others, but perhaps they would find a new appreciation for their craft this way.
Will They Reach NYADA?
With graduation only a semester away, Rachel and Kurt are that much closer to learning their fate. Rachel has the lead in "West Side Story" to help her out. Kurt hoped to have Student Government President on his application, but he lost by a landslide. However, they both forget how much being in the New Directions has helped them. From winning competitions to charity performances, they have major accomplishments to list. A single audition is likely all they need to guarantee their place at NYADA. Without that school, Rachel and Kurt just wouldn't be the same.
